Google "IELTS" and you’ll be bombarded with videos, posts, articles on how to bring your vocabulary up to notch and get band 9.

While memorizing the long lists of advanced and sophisticated words in our pursuit to pocket the desired band, we tend to overlook the grammar.

Grammar constructions can contribute to your overall score not less than vocabulary.

Today, let’s look through some substitutes for "IF".

Whether or not
When you buy a house you will likely be thinking about whether or not you made the right decision even several years later.

Unless
Try to avoid eating late at night, and never take sleeping pills unless prescribed by the doctor.

Assuming (that)
Many websites exclude scheduled downtime from availability calculations, assuming that it has little or no impact on the user common

Provided that
Use of the bridge by bicycle riders is allowed, provided that they use the bicycle path.

Don’t shy away from using different constructions as they enrich your speech and writing.

Don’t overkill it though, everything is good in moderation. Our goal is to sound natural.
