Is writing an innate talent? or can we develop a writerly ear?

Surely, we can’t squeeze everything in one post, therefore, let’s focus on the main principle of good writing:

Your writing should flow.

Your sentences and ideas shouldn’t stand out as a separate unrelated parts, there’s supposed to be a smooth transition.

Never write a sentence that is not attached to the previous one. Not only is it applied to the sentences within the paragraphs, but also paragraphs themselves should be properly linked and logical.

How is it achieved ? It’s where cohesion and coherence devices come into play. It seems impossible to prioratize one over another as they go hand in hand. These *guys* have a lot devices in their toolbox: linking words, repetition, reference, ellipses, etc.
